A brand new blogging project

Well previously, we tried to introduce you to some of the world movies which we appreciated (or not appreciated) and successfully reviewed them. But now that we are no longer just students, time has become a big constraint. In spite of that, we would like to begin a new writing/ blogging venture.

A writing assignment we have ventured upon to provide our readers (if any) the joy of knowing a person via movies. I am positive that every person would have watched movies and considers a handful of them as their favourites. Hence every week I would be interviewing a new person who appreciates movies and their respective views on their favourites. And to keep the conversation brief, let us restrict the list of favourites to 5.

what do you have to say for that. Nimishaa!! Waiting for a your views and I apologize for refraining from blogging during the previous months.

The Perks of being a Wallflower (2012)

I watched this movie a month ago and I can't stop thinking about... The minute I entered the narration I was hooked.. The best thing about it- The oh so beautiful Characters!!.. The movie made me realize the extensive role of friendship in one's life. We're Infinite!!!  Like every other movie freak, I was a bit cynical about Wallflower being another one of those High School Cutesy Romance kinda movie, but (trust me) its not..
Its about Charlie, a regular shy, socially awkward high school junior, in desperate search of friends.. He meets Patrick ( aka Nothing), Sam and the whole group of Wallflowers who astonishingly are the psycho seniors and befriends them. We get to know more about Charlie- his disturbed mind, his closest relative, and of course, all the "Whys" along with it. Through Sam and Patrick, Charlie experiences the most  although complex but cherished period of his life. And its with them that he realizes the infinity of his existence and his potential to overcome.
I loved both Logan Lerman ( Charlie) and  Ezra Miller (Patrick) in the movie and the editing (my most loved part of filming) is just bravo. Good Music lovers ( Rock n Roll) should definitely be in favor of me as I madly googled the music and added them to my collection. The only disappointment would be Emma Watson, who couldn't be easily ignored for "accent". But she can be erased consciously. If you are one of those people who loved Juno (like me) , you shouldn't miss this one at any cost.

In the end, Charlie says " There are people who forget what its like to be sixteen when they turn seventeen"!!! Very deep indeed.... I am one of those people and I can't stop analyzing myself!!

Out of Africa(1985)

The movie  stars Meryl Streep( Yes, I love her!!!!) as Karen and Robert Redford as Dennis.Okay, lets get to the point, I for one hated this movie. If I had watched it when it was made , I would have been 'Out of theatre'. (get it? ) It revolves around a love affair between Karen and Denis. The first half  of the movie deals with her marriage to a hunter who vanishes after the 1st day of marriage (to hunt). At one stage, she travels  a long time....that is a long distance I suppose, to get to him .( Yes it was all on fast forward).
Finally when it gets to the point of the 'affair'..I don't see it, the chemistry. It is just not there.
I don't know if the movie is flawed (because Im no good judge ), but it did not interest me. The sweet looking native Africans did manage to 'aww' me a little ,but that is all. I yawned a lot through the film. It bored me.
Well then why did I review it? Well because this is my review. Any contradicting views?Anybody out there who thinks it is a non boring film? Feel free to counteract.

Love Sex aur Dhokha

Yesterday i came across an interview of Dibakar Bannerjee and i don't know what talent he has but, he has managed to become one of my favorite director. For the record he's an Indian filmmaker mostly known for movies like Oye lucky, lucky oye!!!( looooved it), Khosla ka Ghosla, and Love Sex aur Dhokha.
LSD has been shot completely on DigiCam and talks about 3 stories interconnected to one other. Each story depicts nothing more than the simple reality of Indian youth, "Camera" being the sole medium of storytelling.
Love:
This one starts with a young wannabe director Rahul, filming for his low budget diploma  movie who falls for his film's actress, Shruti. The intial too much love & filmy mode changes when the great Indian villain, Girl's father comes in to give the couple a little treat of reality. The reality too shocking, the reality too harsh to digest, the reality of Honour Killing. The whole story is narrated via Rahul's camera.

Sex:
Wow!!! Indian audience and sex. a good debate topic. But this story is about Adarsh and Rashmi who meet at the supermarket where Rashmi works on night shifts and where Adarsh is the guy taking care of the newly installed CCTV in the supermarket. Adarsh finds a way to pay off his debts by shooting a sex scandal video and tries to woo Rashmi for that. Eventually she falls for him(unknown of his intentions), but things become serious when Adarsh starts to reciprocate her feelings( in a serious way). This one ends on a predictable note and  we get to encounter the Indian MMS world. The narrator in this section is the supermarkets CCTV camera.

Dhokha:
Dhoka which means Betrayal or Deceit revolves around Prabhat, a sting investigator, journalist and a big time loser. He saves Naina( while jumping off the bridge), a dancer and item girl aspirant, who has been ditched by Loki Local for a video contract on her refusal to provide sexual favours. Both Prabhat and Naina plan to take revenge on him by exposing him off aka A Sting Opeartion. They both later try to blackmail him and in the mishap Prabhat gets shot. In hospital he refuses to give the footage of the Sting to his boss just to protect Naina's identity. Naina visits him in hospital and betrays him to join hands with Loki Local for his latest videos. Story is narrated by Prabhat's camera
Most unconventional Indian film, LSD has become favorite of every movie-lover and the movie's natural depiction on the serious issues is a complete eye- opener. Though it would be criticized for some technical flaws but the movie will make you forget all about them. Its definately a 4/5 rating from me.

Okay so guys just rate this movie and post comments.

Dial M for Murder

Once a Hitchcock classic, always a Hitchcock classic! I have watched this movie at least 4 times. It is simply brilliant.
The story revolves around an infidel wife(Grace Kelly) , her 'lover' and the husband. When the news of  infidelity reaches the husband (Ray Milland), he plans for nothing short of killing her. He devices an ingenious plot to kill her. He hires a killer ( the manner in which he traps the killer into doing the deed itself is deceptively pleasing) The killer manages to break into the house but gets killed by the wife. Unable to complete the task, the story takes a new turn.
The husband does not flutter at the sudden turn of events. Instead he devices an even better plan B.
The movie is a must watch for all thriller lovers. I for one loved it.

North Country

Hi its Varsha and i'm back with another review. And its for the movie "North Country" starring Charlize Theron as lead, the film is based on the law suit which changed the sexual harassment law in the history and based on the  book Class Action. The film stars Frances Dormand,Woody Harrelson, Richard Jenkins and Sissy Spacek.
Josey, a mother of two, leaves her abusive husband and comes to northern Minnesota to her family and starts looking for a job. Her father finds Josey a disgrace as she had her finds her 1st baby when she was only 16. She finds a job in local iron mine with the help of her friend Glory and her husband Kyle. Josey's father doesn't like this job for her as he also works in mine but because of the high pay she opts to disappoint him.In the iron mine, the men dominate the women because of number and most of them harass the women. Frustrated from this daily harassment she complains to her boss, Peterson only to be disappointed. She files a complaint against the mine company for sexual harassment and the law suits runs parallel to Josey's story. The movie ends with a shocking truth and we meet the real Josey.
With a eye opening subject of how the sexual harassment law came into existence, North Country celebrates women-hood and its need for respect. Charlize Theron stands shining with a strong performance and is worth for getting nominated for the Oscars. A must watch for all the women out there and a must must watch for men too. Here is one such movies which teaches you to stand against wrong whether the wrong done by a person or a whole goddamn company.

AboutElly

Nimisha here. Back again with another blog. I would like to share my views on an Iranian film called Darbareye.Elly.(About.Elly,2009).
I happened to chance on this film when I was browsing through IMDB, the biggest online movie database. The movie opens with a group of friends(/family) heading for a leisure trip. One couple in the group is engaged to be married, Ely being the fiance. The movie develops into a light drama where the usual games and fun of a casual outing is captured pleasantly. Ely, the protagonist is, throughout the first half( I guess) very mysterious and to some level impenetrable, until she disappears completely. The movie takes a complete U turn from this point on. Growing tensions develop in the group and the plot progress into a thriller of some sort.
Watch it for its simplicity and straightforwardness. You ll enjoy it, I did.Oh and a special mention about Sepideh (Golshifteh Farahani), she is a big star in Iran and I DONT wonder why.
